Columbus State Community College Economic VISTA 2021 The Small Business Development Center on Columbus State Community College’s campus purpose is to provide targeted outreach and entrepreneurial programming and access to capital in order to combat poverty with opportunity. The SBDC provides an opportunity for those individuals with a desire to capitalize on their skills, talents and traits to create a source or supplemental income to support their household. The SBDC delivers a four-week business start-up training program, designed to move the participant forward, positioned to start their business in addition to offering a microloan program. The re-launch of KIVA Columbus, a web-based crowd funding Microloan program with an international presence, will provide access to capital for individuals who cannot access traditional funding. Member Duties : A VISTA member will assist with revamping a four-week business start-up training program; develop improved processes; evaluate policies and procedures, technology, data collection and program performance, essential to optimizing the program impact for the participant and reducing program delivery costs to ensure sustainability; assist with the launch of the new Kiva Columbus Hub, a crowd funding Microloan program with an international presence; develop collateral materials, social media platforms, and form documents for application packages; aid in creating monthly community platforms to showcase businesses, planning, marketing, assist with facilitating and execution of events; and participate in the development of policies and procedures to launch two test markets for Kiva in Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio.
