Ohio SBDC Digital Edition is a series designed to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with access to practical information, useful tools, and key resources to help strengthen and grow their businesses.
In this July edition, we will explore Navigating ODOT: A Guide for Small Businesses, a session designed to help entrepreneurs and small business owners better understand the opportunities, resources, and programs available through the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
During the session, we will be joined by Jennifer Crist from the Division of Small Business & External Workforce Development, who will share clear guidance and practical recommendations to help you understand how to work with ODOT, identify contracting opportunities, access programs for small businesses, and strengthen your ability to compete for government projects and contracts.
This conversation will provide valuable insights into the resources available for both emerging and established businesses, as well as strategies for building key connections and maximizing the opportunities and initiatives that ODOT offers to the business community.

Jennifer Crist is the Regional Outreach Manager for the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Outreach, within the Division of Small Business & External Workforce Development. In this role, Jennifer oversees outreach initiatives supporting socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses across ODOT’s northeast Ohio districts and leads statewide programs for Hispanic-owned businesses.
Prior to joining ODOT, Jennifer served as the State Monitor Advocate for Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Ohio University and brings 24 years of state service, having served in several capacities.

Pamela is a bilingual business advisor at the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Columbus State Community College. She acts as a liaison for the Hispanic/Latino community, providing essential tools, education, and guidance to successfully start, grow, and sustain their businesses. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Universidad del Valle de México and has extensive experience in strategic marketing, public relations campaigns, and community engagement initiatives to support business growth.
Pamela is also a small business owner, dedicated to promoting her culture through everyday goods. Her business specializes in unique cultural items, ensuring that each product tells a story and connects customers to her cultural roots. Through her professional and entrepreneurial efforts, Pamela fosters cultural appreciation and awareness.
